Nabari no Ou – 03 | Assault

So I’ve managed to pull myself away from ‘Soul Eater’ long enough to blog another episode of ‘Nabari no Ou’. Miharu, Raimei, Koichi and Tobari rush to Fuuma Village to find that it’s been subject to a raid (of 5 people) and that their objective was to steal the village’s Kinjutsu (hidden scroll or something). Natural they try to stop the assailants with interesting results.

Warning: major spoilers, ouch time…

Raimei tried to find out what happened from one of the fallen (no pun intended) Fumma ninja that they found outside the village. Apparently it was attacked by some ‘monster’. Tobari notices that all of the ninja’s injuries are fatal but internal. Basically someone tore her up from the inside out.

Inside on of the burning Fuuma buildings, a couple of masked commandos (commandos?) are searching for something. They find a swiveling bookshelf and conclude that there are still Fuuma ninja’s running around that might have what they’re looking for.

Of course they chase them down and proceed to kick butt and have time to comment on how Fuuma-nin are ‘all bark and no bite’. /shrug.

Anyhow, we see some kid with the supposed scroll escaping through a secret passage way. He’s cut off, however by a badguy but manages to escape with a smoke-bomb. Those things are might handy. I wish I had some.

But yeah, it’s not long before the kid is caught up with and held at gunpoint. (gunpoint?) Wait… isn’t this a ninja show? What the hell?

There’s a short cut scene with that old guy from that other episode, talking to the creepy lady that doesn’t open her eyes. They talk about their plans for the Shinrabanshou and how the 5 that they sent to Fuuma was plenty to obtain the Kinjutsu. AND how one of them was ’special’.

[May I just insert that there's a thunderstorm... I'm scared...]

Um, moving on… Back to Fuuma, The guy with the gun takes the scroll, realizing that the kid (and me) are wondering why the hell he’s carrying a gun and explains with a simple ‘Ninjutsu is boring’. Only in not so little words. He calls for the rest of the raid and they go to leave

He can’t leave however because Raimei and the others have found them and don’t plan on letting them go anywhere. It proves to be a little more difficult than they thought since the bad guys are somewhat just as, if not stronger than they are. Blondie (the one with the gun whom I shall always associate with Naruto- oh god, I’m turning into a Narutard… I’m seeing him in anime, everywhere!)

Anyhow, the kid takes the opportunity and snatches the scroll and makes a run for it. He doesn’t get very far when blondie calls for someone named Yoite to take care of him. And take care of him he does. If by ‘take care’ means ‘crush-his-insides-just-by-pointing-a-finger-at-him’ Then yeah, creepy, cap-wearing Yoite takes good care of him.

Yoite then tells Blondie that the Shinrabanshou is there which may mess with their plan a little.

Raimei wants to whoop these guys good but Tobari stops her, telling her it’s too dangers. Uh, yeah. Get your insides crushed… screw that, I’d be outta there.

Tobari’s plan of action: run away. Tobari explains to the protesting children that it’s the best course of action in the face of Yoite and that Yoite was the monster than the woman outside of the village was talking about. The four of them don’t get very far before Yoite cuts them off and points at them. Tobari breaks the attack with a seal breaker or something like that. Nice save, sensei.

Tobari tells Raimei and Koichi to take Miharu and run. They do but are blocked by Blondie and the other 3 commandos (I’m sorry, I just can’t get over that). Raimei figures that she’s probably the only one that can distract them long enough for Koichi and Miharu to run past but Miharu stops her. He pulls the bishonen card and gets them all a free pass. LMAO!

After she comments on how Miharu could do that without flinching, she then turns to stop their pursuers, telling the boys to go on without her. She deals with 2 commandos easily before Blondie jumps in. He comments on her katana (don’t diss a girl’s sword, dude…) and mentions something about someone having one like it back home. Raimei demands to know what and more specifically, who he’s talking about.

The last commando catches up with Koichi and Miharu. Koichi pulls some fancy ninja moves (ie using a semi-hug shuriken against the underestimating commando dude) and manages to take out their pursuer without incident. He says (to no one in particular) that to underestimate your opponent in the world of Nabari is a very big no no.

Raimei catches up… but then again, so does Blondie. He get all exasperated and is like, ‘to capture the Shinrabanshou wasn’t my mission so… seeya!’. Raimei tries to stop him or at least find out his name but Koichi tells her it’s probably best for her to leave it. Blondie agrees, promising to tell them his name the next time they encounter each other.

Meanwhile, Tobari is facing off against Yoite. He takes notice of Yoite’s ability to fight… well. He’s pretty much holding out against him but slips up in the end and get caught at finger-point and ends up falling off the roof they were fighting on.

Koichi tries to use his shuriken against him but ends up losing an arm.

Raimei tries to raise her sword against him but is kicked (rather hard) into the wall and knocked unconcious.

Hell, even MIharu tries throwing a kunai at him. Yoite evades it and takes away Miharu’s right eye.

Tobari gets really pissed that his little brother’s been hurt that he gets up and stumbles towards Yoite but he’s held at finger-point again. Luckily he’s got his… seal breaker thing up so it stops his head from being exploded.

Miharu tries to reason with Yoite and tells him that if he’s the one he’s after, to leave the others out of it since they have nothing to do with it. Tobari yells at him that he’s wrong and that they’re there to protect him and that he promised he would. He yells at Miharu to run. At this point, it’s getting harder and harder for Tobari to keep his head un-exploded. Eventually he loses it and his head explodes… almost. Miharu screams for Yoite to stop and…

…and then a HUGE cat jumps out of the building and whacks Yoite away. No really, I’m not kidding. A huge cat really does show up.

Turns out the kitty is actually Fuuma’s leader. And just where the hell have YOU been?!

Additional Rantings:
Yoite’s scary >_< but he’s so… when his hat got knocked off and he was having the stare-down with cat-man, I squealed. And I only squeal when I find something completely adorable or made of win. I dunno… but Yoite looks so much cooler without his cap on.

Next Episode: ‘Ordered MIssion’
Miharu, Raimei, Koichi and Tobari lick their wounds while discussing their next plan of action. Cat-man has his own suggestion. Beat Kairoushuu at their own game and steal the scrolls before they do. /GASP! But they want to protect the world from the Shinrabanshou right?
